Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse feedback from other people kill his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil states that he's learning every day and is quite abashed about his success. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
