Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he could about the game. He would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn't allow the adverse feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
