Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender in the world by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn't let the negative feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn't a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he's learning every day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
