Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the planet by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. He would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative comments from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn't a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he's learning every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
