Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental comments from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
