Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn't a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He admits to making errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
