Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn't allow the negative comments from others kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
