Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn't permit the negative feedback from other people destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn't a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
