Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the globe by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn't permit the adverse comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn't a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. He says that he's picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
