Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn't allow the detrimental feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he's learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
