Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse feedback from others annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
