Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender in the world by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative comments from others kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn't a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
